Having photographed many 'would be' models over the past few years I am always amazed at the unreliability of many of them. Professional models can always be trusted to keep appointments but many amateur models seem to live in a bubble of self-centredness. I estimate that about half the amateur models with whom I have arranged shoots, fail to turn up and don't let me know in advance, despite having my telephone number. A photgrapher once advised me that if I wanted reliable models I should photograph trees. At least they can be trusted.
Of course there are exceptions. Four models with whom I have worked in Canberra - Carly Shepherd, Cherry Byrne, Seker Pare and Anne Duffy - are completely reliable and a pleasure to photograph.
